If it is a 2025 launch that Sony is aiming for, then expect to hear news about the specifications and features by the end of the year at the very least. Until then, PC fans will have to keep on watching PlayStation players complete missions via gameplay footage. It makes sense that they would try to time pre-orders with the holiday season to capitalize on the market. Although there’s no confirmation right now, fans should rest assured that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still on its way to PC. Of course, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s performance wasn’t totally unexpected. With the popularity of both previous superhero installments, which were also exclusive to the PlayStation line, Sony could comfortably bet the house on these games.

So, with that in mind, this latest PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks phenomenal. Miles clashes with a rebel group known as the Underground, who are armed with advanced technology provided by their masked leader the Tinkerer. The Underground is targeting an experimental power source called Nuform, developed by the nefarious Roxxon Corporation. Roxxon is headed by immoral businessman Simon Krieger, who had Phin’s uncle killed when he attempted to report on Nuform’s instability and destructive potential.

She vents her frustrations with herself and Peter in a way that shows she isn’t this perfect paragon she’s presented as the rest of the time. Lean into that and show that she’s just as flawed as the main two heroes, and more people might actually start to like her. This game falls into the most common pitfall of big open world games.

Lots of enhancements that make Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 feel and play differently are thanks to the system’s impressive tech. However, there’s now a third strand shared by both characters, which is something entirely new to the series. With it you can build on the combat and traversal skills that you would want in either Spider-Man, creating a more rounded – and appropriately – symbiotic duo. The main story has that mix of slick but very linear action setpieces and quiet character moments common to almost all the modern PlayStation first-party titles—outside of those, the city is scattered with optional side missions and things to find. I can’t say that I noticed one dropped frame in my dozens of hours of playing. This allows Spider-Man 2 to shine in its most jaw-dropping moments – of which the main story offers many – as explosive action, sparkling electrical effects, and fittingly slimy symbiote gloop fill the screen. The main story took me around 18 hours to complete before I hit 100%, and the subsequent platinum trophy popped up to congratulate my efforts after 27 in total. Despite whatever loftier ambitions the story may have, this is still unapologetically an old-school approach to open-world game design, and nowhere is this displayed more clearly than in its optional quests.

Its allowance for Steam Controllers and use of the Steamdeck Verification pleased long-time players. What’s more, each version of the title that hits PC is essentially the most complete iteration. That means that DLC, costumes and any glitch fixes are already built into the game. Although there’s some bug support needed post-launch, for the most part, Insomniac’s rollouts have been remarkably simple. In Miles Morales’ long list of suits, you’ll spot one eerily familiar one called Best There Is. The suit’s name is a reference to the popular Wolverine quote from the comics, “I’m the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice”.

The adorable but giant Inhuman pup statue returns from the previous games, and can be found just north of Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. With Spider-Man 2 taking place a year after the events of Miles Morales, you might expect that the city has fully recovered, but you’d be wrong! Whilst the Wakandan Embassy has been a location in the previous two Spider-Man games from Insomniac, a new unique interaction is available in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. With each enemy webbed up, and the Ricochet Web bouncing off of them to keep the attacks coming, players will have vulnerable foes that won’t be able to engage in a fight while players give them a punch from their webbed state. In some instances, these webbed enemies might even end up webbed to a wall to negate their combat encounters altogether.
